MIDWEEK LEARN-TO-RACE 2025
Midweek Learn-to-Race (LTR) 2025 detail to come. . All participants must be members of Midweek Cycling Club (MWCC) and have a valid UCI Road License, Provincial Race License, or Associate Club Membership. Riders can still race for other teams/clubs and be MWCC members. Thank you to all the marshals and corner guards who keep the riders safe.
Midweek Cycling Club (MWCC) is an athletes for life bike racing programme in Toronto and Mississauga. Powered by volunteers; fueled by passion. If you're new to bike racing or looking to grow and build a broader cycling community in the GTA, MWCC might be the club for you.
The Five essential rules of Learn-to-Race:
Never cross the yellow line (no excuses)
Never warm up in the opposite lane of traffic (and keep all lanes clear)
Always use the dedicated washroom facilities, (ie. don’t pee in the bushes)
Only park in designated areas (or better yet ride to the race)
Have fun
Breaking any of these rules will lead to being prohibited from attending future club activities. (Yes, if you’re not having fun you could be banned. Positive vibes only.) Please don’t use Tahoe/Buckhorn as your personal training loop outside of MWCC sanctioned activities. Our permits require keeping our neighbours happy.
Learn-to-Race is suitable for riders aged 11 and older of all ages and abilities. A drop-bar road bike is recommended, but not essential. All bikes must have working front and rear brakes and not have fixed gears. Helmets are mandatory while astride a bicycle.
REGISTRATION:
LTR is included as part of MWCC membership: Registration for Midweek Cycling Club (MWCC) Membership
Note: The Midweek Crit is NOT included as part of membership.

PARKING
Thanks to our friends at UNC, racers and spectators can park in the north-east lots at 1875 Buckhorn Gate. Due to traffic control, PLEASE ACCESS THE PARKING FROM EGLINTON AVE, NOT EASTGATE PKWY.
THERE IS NO OTHER EVENT PARKING AROUND THE TAHOE/BUCKHORN CIRCUIT OR ADJACENT LOTS OFF EASTGATE. DO NOT PARK IN CREW PARKING AT CORNER
1. Parking in unauthorized areas puts our event permits at risk and may result in riders being prohibited from participating. Please be respectful of the marshals directing traffic at the lot and to all the property users. We are guests and if we want this parking to continue we need to behave accordingly.
Please do not ride in ANY OF THE PARKING LOTS AROUND THE TAHOE/BUCKHORN COURSE INCLUDING THE DESIGNATED PARKING as these are private property.
WASHROOMS
There is an accessible portalet (washroom) located about 150m east of the finish line. All participants & guests must use the provided unit.
LTR v CRIT CLINIC
LTR is for all riders interested in riding safely in a group. Race tactics and bike handling skills are also taught. Not all LTR attendees will choose to race. Many just want to feel more confident on the bike and have fun. The Crit Clinic is part of the Midweek Crit series aimed at experienced riders preparing for their first crit. While there is overlap, the Crit Clinic is not a substitute for LTR--or vice versa. The ideal progression is for a new rider to complete LTR before deciding to register for their first Midweek Crit and attending the Crit Clinic.
OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF
Riders caught littering, not using public facilities, acting contrary to a "sporting spirit", or generally disrespectful or unsafe will be disqualified and not allowed to return.
Acts of discrimination, hate speech, threats of violence, and disregard of public health will not be tolerated. Riders will not be allowed to return.
Spectators are welcomed—and encouraged! Spectators are expected to adhere to the same standards are racers.
Above all, be courteous to your fellow rider. Don’t ride aggressively or recklessly. While there is the element of competition, this is still supposed to be a fun, middle of the week race. Please ride safely and with care and have fun.
Corner marshals are essential to the success of the series. Sign-up to help at Midweek Crit Series 1 or Learn-to-Race.
